Game 1: Des Moines Lions Club 132, JayTees Apparel 115

Once again, night two of Capital City League consisted of multiple Iowa State players’ absences. The Des Moines Lions Club was missing Lindell Wigginton and Jeff Beverly.

Wigginton is training for the Canadian U19 team, and Beverly sat out due to injuries. Meanwhile, Nick Weiler-Babb sat out for JayTees Apparel.

Jack Hutchison was the only Cyclone active in the first game. Hutchison contributed two points and three rebounds.

The Des Moines Lions Club held a comfortable lead throughout the game. All six of their players finished with double-digit points.

Game 2: Hinterland 144, Sparta Waste Services 141

The next game was much closer and ended in a nailbiter.

Donovan Jackson willed his team to victory. Jackson struggled in the Cap City League opener, but he rebounded, scoring 44 points with 60 percent shooting from behind the arc.

For Sparta Waste Services, Marial Shayok stood out. Shayok finished with 38 points and 12 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to fend off Hinterland.

Game 3: Doerrfield Promotions 119, Hannah Holmes 83

The final game was the most lopsided of the three.

Hannah Holmes featured one Cyclone, Michael Jacobson. Jacobson did his part, scoring 20 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.

Terrence Lewis and Solomon Young were too much for Hannah Holmes to overcome. Lewis and Young both made their first starts of this Cap City League season.

Both Lewis and Young added a double-double. Lewis scored 26 points with 10 rebounds, while Young added 19 points and 11 boards. Both jolted the crowd with a handful of electrifying dunks.
