ISU’s Brian Peavy and Cliff Fernandez celebrate a sack during the game against San Jose State Sept. 24. The Cyclones would go on to defeat the Spartans 44-10, making it their first win of the 2016-2017 season.

Iowa State picked up its 10th football commit for the class of 2018 over the weekend.

Jaeveyon Morton, a defensive back from Detroit, Michigan, announced his commitment to Iowa State Saturday.

Morton, who is listed at 5-foot-9 and 160 pounds, does not have the size of recent Iowa State defensive back commits — such as 6-foot-1 cornerback Anthony Johnson Jr.

His lack of size didn’t seem to scare teams away. The three-star cornerback held offers from schools such as Cincinnati, Iowa, Pittsburgh and Indiana.

With Morton’s commitment, Iowa State now has two defensive backs — Morton and Johnson Jr. — in the 2018 class. Iowa State’s 2018 class is currently ranked No. 34 by 247Sports.
