Tomorrow marks the start of the Ames Farmers’ Market’s seventh season, bringing  fresh food, live music and other entertainment to Main Street in downtown Ames.

The Market will be held every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m, and will run through October 28. Found on the 300 and 400 blocks of downtown’s Main Street, the Market will have fresh produce, meats and cheeses, crafts and artwork, according to a press release from the Ames Chamber of Commerce.

There will be a different event happening every Saturday, with this weekend’s event being the Food Truck Showdown, which will feature food trucks from both Ames and the central Iowa area competing for the title of “best food truck overall”. The Food Truck Showdown will take place during the Market, 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m, and is free to the public, according to the release.

Other special events during the month of May include free face painting from Joyful Colorz on May 13th, a lard baking contest on May 20th and the free Howick petting zoo on May 27th.
