Following a strong sophomore campaign at Iowa State, Cyclone women’s basketball player Bridget Carleton was invited Canada Basketball’s Women’s National Team Program Assessment camp.

Carleton, a native of Chatham, Ontario, also participated in the camp last summer and was named an alternate before the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

During the 2016-17 season with Iowa State, Carleton often credited her experience with the Canadian national team for her big jump from year one to year two.

“Playing with Team Canada was nothing but a benefit to me,” Carleton told the Daily in January. “I think I matured a lot over the summer.”

Carleton was a unanimous All-Big 12 first team selection following the season. She averaged 15 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, in addition to having the second-best free throw percentage in the nation (93.9 percent).

With the Tokyo games coming up in just three years, Carleton should be on track to compete for a spot on the team.
