Iowa State pitcher Emma Hylen was named Big 12 co-Pitcher of the Week following her performances against Kansas over the weekend.

Hylen pitched all 14 innings Friday and Saturday, earning wins in both games as Iowa State clinched a berth in the Big 12 Tournament.

In the first game, Hylen struck out a career-high seven batters en route to her first career complete game shutout. Kansas managed just two hits and one walk as Iowa State won, 1-0.

Less than 24 hours later, Hylen returned to the circle to lead Iowa State in a 3-2 victory. Hylen struck out four Jayhawks and allowed just one earned run.

In Kansas’ 52 at bats against Hylen, just 13 resulted in the hitter reaching base safely.

Hylen is the first Iowa State pitcher to be named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week twice in one season.

Iowa State is scheduled to play Oklahoma State and Baylor in this week’s Big 12 Tournament.
