Iowa State of Mind reflection: Chris Jorgensen

The happiness series was an interesting experiment for me. Some of the things we did were things I already did, while some were out of my comfort zone.

I would say that I was most surprised by meditation. I went into meditation expecting not to like it- but I loved it.

I would say the least effective exercise for me was grateful journals. It made me aware of the things in my life, but I don’t think it did anything to my happiness or how I thought about things.

I would say the best part of all of this was being forced to step out of my comfort zone and try new things. Even when it turns out that I didn’t like an activity, stepping out and doing the thing was a valuable lesson.
