The Iowa State men’s track and field team continued to build up its program with two big signings on Wednesday.

The first addition to the roster is Jackson Foutch, who will join the team as a walk-on. Foutch is coming from Missouri, primarily to compete in multi-events. His best events are long jump and the 200-meter run dash.

The second up and coming Cyclone is Festus Lagat. Lagat previously competed at Gillette Junior College in Gillette, Wyoming, and is regarded as one of the most sought after recruits in the country.

“We are extremely excited to welcome him to our family,” assistant coach Jeremy Sudbury said. “At Iowa State we have a great tradition of Kenyan national champions and I believe [Festus] will be next in line.”

At the junior college level Lagat never lost on the track, something he will hope to build off of at Iowa State.

Along the way Lagat also has won four junior college championships in the mile, 1,000-meter run, 800-meter run and 1,500-meter run. In the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs he set collegiate time records.
