Week four reflections: Maggie Curry

Maybe I’m a horrible person, but this week was hard for me.

I think I do loads of tiny little nice things all the time, but I just consider them part of being a good human being and don’t really notice, like holding the door open or sharing food or stopping and listening to a friend even though there’s work to do.

Conscious acts of kindness — deliberately choosing to be kind. I feel like most of my kind acts come on impulse or sense of duty instead. I chose to give compliments one day to anyone I made eye contact with walking across campus and got a lot of weird looks back.

I think the idea of this stems from charity — that being charitable and helping others can make us feel happier with ourselves — but I just felt the same.
