Breakdown of events during Pride Week

Monday is the start of Pride Week, where people come together to represent gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students.

There are multiple events happening throughout the week to acknowledge Pride Week, according to the Iowa State University events calendar.

T-shirt and button sales will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the agora near Parks Library on Monday.

Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Student Services will be holding the sales.

A panel discussion called “Inclusion in the Workplace” will be held at 4 p.m. Monday in room 1148 of the Gerdin Business Building.

Panelists are from Union Pacific, John Deere, Principal and Caterpillar Inc. A reception will follow.

Discussion of the series short films, “We’ve Been Around,” will take place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in room 1064 of the Student Services Building.

The shorts celebrate the life of transgender trailblazers. Anyone is welcome to bring a lunch and join the conversation.

A discussion about creating an Ames Pride Fest will take place between 3:30 p.m and 5 p.m. Wednesday in room 3150 of Beardshear Hall. 

Anyone who is interested in the proposal or wants to offer their own thoughts is welcome to drop in at any point during the given time frame. 

“Intimacy in the Dark” will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday in room 0205 of Carver Hall.

Anyone is welcome to come and join the discussion about information on sex topics.

“Let’s get Queerious” will take place at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in room 127 of Curtiss Hall.

The discussion will feature myths, research and ways to identify healthy or unhealthy relationships. 

There will be an opportunity to meet the reps of the Queer Graduate Association and Pride Alliance between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the free speech zone near Parks Library.

Anyone is welcome to come and start a conversation with a rep.

The STEM Kickoff will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in room 135 of McKay Hall.

Anyone interested in the “March for Science” event that is to take place on April 22 can come and decorate a lab coat. Decorating materials are provided, but everyone must bring their own white T-shirt.

“Swag-making” will take place between 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Friday in room 1064 of the Student Services Building.

Come anytime between the given time frame and decorate some Pride Week swag such as a personalized keychain. This event is free.
