Iowa State alumnus and “The Bachelor” star Chris Soules has been arrested after police say he left the scene of a deadly crash, The Des Moines Register reported.

Soules, who was booked into the Buchanan County Jail at 1:16 a.m. on a criminal charge of leaving the scene of an accident at which a death occurred, resides in Arlington, Iowa.

Police could not confirm to The Des Moines Register the exact incident that led to Soules’ arrest, but a fatal crash in Buchanan County occurred Monday night after a pickup truck collided with a tractor north of Aurora.

According to a crash report by the Iowa State Patrol, a 2008 Chevy Pickup was driving southbound on County Road W45 behind a 2460 John Deere tractor when the pickup rear ended the tractor which led to both vehicles rolling into ditches on the west and east side of the road.

Soules was released from jail Tuesday morning. He was allegedly in possession of alcoholic beverages or containers, but it is unclear if he was intoxicated at the time, The Register reported.

The tractor driver was identified as Kenneth Mosher, 66, of Aurora. He was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospotal in Oelwein where he was taken after the crash by ambulance.

A $10,000 bond was posted by Soules’ mother Linda on Tuesday morning. A preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. on May 2.

Soules is an American reality television personality who appeared on the 10th season of “The Bachelorette,” the 19th season of “The Bachelor” and the 20th season of “Dancing with the Stars.”
