The Iowa State women’s basketball team officially added another member to its 2017 recruiting class on Wednesday with the commitment of Bride Kennedy-Hopoate.

She verbally committed in December.

Kennedy-Hopoate, a 6-foot-4 forward, was born in Brisbane, Australia. She played two years of college basketball at the junior college level, first at Northwest Florida State and then at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas.

As a sophomore for Hutchinson, Kennedy-Hopoate averaged 11.9 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game. She was rated as the No. 1 junior college prospect according to All Star Girls Report.

Kennedy-Hopoate has two years of collegiate eligibility remaining.

With her size, Kennedy-Hopoate will be asked to help replace the production of Seanna Johnson, who graduated from Iowa State as one of the most productive scorers and rebounders in school history.

“Bride completes a recruiting class that fills many of our needs as we graduate five players,” coach Bill Fennelly said. “She played for a great program at Hutchinson Community College and can provide immediate and needed help in the post.”
