The Iowa State women’s basketball team claimed a spot in the postseason as the 9-seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The Cyclones will play 8-seed Syracuse on Saturday in Storrs, Connecticut. The time is to be determined. If the Cyclones beat the Orange, they will likely meet undefeated Connecticut, the No. 1 seed in the bracket, which is on a 107-game win streak.

After a rocky patch to start the Big 12 season, the Cyclones finished the season on a hot streak, including a road win over No. 6 Texas. All their late season heroics were enough for the committee to add them to the final field of 64.

The Cyclones started the day as one of the last four teams in, according to ESPN’s Charlie Crème. However, after the selection show started, the Cyclones didn’t have to stress long before they learned their fate.

Iowa State was one of the first four teams to be revealed in the bracket.
