Trends from the 2000s that are hot today

New trends seem to come out every few weeks. From hair to fashion, they set the tone for the season. Currently, throwbacks seem to be the biggest trend. Pieces from the ’80s and the ’90s like chokers and tones like metallic are finding their way into millennial’s closets. These items from the 2000s are about to do the same.

While high rise jeans are still on trend, the rise is slowly inching downwards. They still have the fit of a straight leg jean but “flare” out like the 2000s trend. A fresh take from the traditional skinny jean, consider picking up a loose fit and pair it with your favorite cropped sweatshirt or distressed t-shirt.

Back then, repeating graphics or major icons were plastered over any clothing item designers could get their hands on. Today, all over prints like florals or artistic neon stripes are a great way to make a bold statement. This trend can be matched with one color items or even more print to truly fit the 2000s look.

Cowl-necks ruled the 2000s any time of the year in tank top or sweater form. The flattering neckline is a great alternative to the low-cut tank top or turtle neck sweater. Celebrities like Gigi Hadid have found this trend once again, in a soft cloth and neutral coloring. Dressed up with a leather jacket and jeans or dressed down in leggings and loafs, it’s a trend to cozy up to.

The 2000s style doesn’t only appear in clothing items, but the name behind the brand as well. Rapper’s like Akoo, Nostic, and Vokal made their mark in fashion as well as the studio. They produced everything from long sleeve t-shirts to printed vests. This trend has evolved into clothing lines like Kanye West’s Yeezy Seasons. This brand is marching down the runway in major events such as New York Fashion Week.

Along with your favorite sneakers and a pair of sunglasses, the return of the tracksuit will amp up your lazy Sunday’s. Urban Outfitters released a collaboration with Juicy Couture to bring back this comfortable trend. While the waist is higher and the fit is tighter, the original version still holds true.

Champion has also come up with their own version of the trend and has been sported by the likes of Kendall Jenner or Hailey Baldwin. With comfy but chic athleisure becoming fashionable, this sporty trend will surly make an appearance in millennial’s closets.

So if you’re feeling nostalgic for the 2000s or simply want to try something new, consider these old trends.
