ISU AfterDark to host mentalist Brian Imbus and comedian Nicole Byer

Hypnotist Brian Imbus returns to Iowa State for the 2013 Veishea celebration to perform a 90-minute hypnosis show on Friday, April 19, 2013, at the Memorial Union.

Headliners for ISU AfterDark on Friday will be professional mentalist Brian Imbus and comedian Nicole Byer, who will be performing at 9 p.m. and 11 p.m., respectively.

This will be Brian Imbus’ second performance at the Great Hall, his previous being just under a year ago. He is largely known for his hypnotic tricks and his ability to read minds. According to his website, Imbus “is one of the most popular entertainers in the United States.”

During his show, Imnbus will read minds and predict the lottery. Imbus has performed for colleges, high schools and other events. He is “a campus tradition” for some of those.

Following his act, the comic Nicole Byer will perform. Byer is widely known for her appearances on MTV’s “Girl Code.” She also starred in the Fox series “Party Over Here” with co-stars Jessica McKenna and Alison Rich.  

In current events, Byer has starred in “Loosely Exactly Nicole,” which was a scripted comedy about her life. However, he show was cancelled. Byer has also starred in an MTV hidden-camera prank show entitled “Ladylike.”

Byer also has performed on Comedy Central’s “This Is Not Happening,” where she told  raunchy stories about her drinking habits. These stories and might be included in her set Friday.
