Travis Pauslon will serve as the Iowa State wrestling’s head coach for the remainder of the season the school announced Thursday.

Paulson is in his sixth season as a coach for the Cyclones.

Kevin Jackson announced he would step down at the end of the season on Jan. 31. But earlier this week he approached athletic director Jamie Pollard to express his desire to no longer coach the team according to a release from the athletic department.

This announcement comes the day after All-American Pat Downey was kicked off the team.

The Cyclones will travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma on March 4 for the Big 12 Championships. And the wrestlers who qualify will head to St. Louis to wrestle in the NCAA Championships on March 16.

Trent Paulson and Angel Escobedo will also finish out the season as the assistant coaches for Iowa State.
