Here are some local events happening on Valentine’s Day:

Close to You: The Music of Carpenters – Scheman Building

A memorable tribute concert performed by The Carpenters filled with classic songs from the ’70s.

Pop Up Art Sale – MU Bookstore

Hand-made items, created by students and instructors, will be for sale outside the bookstore.

Open Mic Night – The Maintenance Shop

Solo performers and/or simple set-up bands will perform for 10 minutes or two songs.

Valentine Skate – Brenton Skating Plaza (Des Moines)

Admission costs $7, and skate rental will be available from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Fun with Acrylics – Palek Studio and Gallery (Des Moines)
