In a game that came down to the final minute, Iowa State grabbed its second conference win of the season, beating No. 22 Kansas State 75-69.

The Cyclones (11-8, 2-6 Big 12) came into the matchup with the Wildcats (15-5, 5-3 Big 12) desperately needing a win to regain some confidence and momentum.

Earlier in the week, junior guard Jadda Buckley talked about what getting a win would do for the morale of the team. Based on her hot start in the first half, she wasn’t about to let this game slip away.

Buckley started the game with 12 of the team’s first 21 points and finished with 21 points on 6 of 8 shooting.

Many different players helped Iowa State’s production. Four Cyclones scored in double figures.

Senior Seanna Johnson, who had an off night against Baylor scoring zero points, found her stride in the second half. After going scoreless in the first, she managed to finish with 13 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists.

A big part of the Cyclone win came from the great defense played against the Kansas State leading scorer and rebounder. The 6-foot-5 center was held to 14 points and 5 rebounds.

Overall the Cyclones shot 51 percent (26-51) from the field and 47 percent from 3-point range (9-19). Sophomore Bridget Carleton, who earned last week’s Big 12 player of the week honor, finished with 14 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
