The College of Engineering states that a professional and clean appearance is as equally important as a good resume.

Mayra Ramirez, director of Engineering Career Services, said, “The main concern is that we want the employers to know that the students have the ability to dress professionally.” She acknowledged that there are companies that may have a more business-causal dress code, but for the purpose of the career fair it is highly recommended to dress professionally.

“We recommend the dark-colored suits such as black and navy and try to stay away from the bright colors,” Ramirez said.

They recommend men should wear suits and women should wear a tailored suit or a knee-length dress or skirt. Women are advised to keep accessories and makeup to a minimum.

For both men and women nails should be clean and an appropriate length. Tattoos should be covered and facial piercings should be removed.

Ramirez noted, “Always take multiple resumes, we do not want students to run out of resumes. That would be the worst thing to happen.”
