DIY organization hacks

Sometimes, it’s hard to stay organized. Staying organized though is a great way to stay on top of things. When you are organized, you can feel less stressed out. Here are some DIY tricks to help you stay organized whether it’s your room, desk, office or clothing drawers.

1. Shoebox drawer

Why spend money on a drawer organizer when you can make one from home? All you need is a shoebox. Cut the shoebox to the width and length you desire. Stick the cardboard dividers into your drawer and voilà. You can use these dividers in your desk drawer to separate your pens, pencils, notes, scissors and calculators or you can use it to separate your socks and undergarments.

2. Floating jars

For this organizing hack, you’ll need magnets, glue and mini mason jars. Glue the magnets on top of the mason jar lids. Then place a magnet on the bottom of a shelf. Fill the mason jars with ponytails, jewelry, nails, tacks or other small items. This is a great way to take up less space on countertops. Rather than having the jars on the surface of counters, they will be floating!

3. Bread tag labels

Electrical outlets can fill up quickly in dorms and apartments and make for quite a mess. Chords and plugs can be all over the place, and sometimes it’s difficult to know what appliance you’re unplugging. To prevent accidentally unplugging something you don’t want, save the tags that are found on the loaves of bread. Take a sharpie and label each tag. Then, place the tags around the chords so it’s clear to see what you’re unplugging.

4. Ice cube organizing trays

Ice cube trays don’t only have to be for making ice cubes. They can also be used for organizing small household objects. This is a great jewelry holder, too. These trays are stackable which means they won’t take up a lot of space.

5. Cell phone holder

When your phone is charging, sometimes you have no choice but to put it on the floor. Instead of doing that, you can make a cell phone holder out of a lotion bottle. Simply cut the lotion bottle into a pocket like shape to slide your phone in and a place for the outlet to poke through. Then, take some spray paint to make it unique. This is a great way to get rid of extra chords as well.

6. Double soda tab clothes hanger

If you’re like most people and have a lot of clothes that sometimes won’t all fit in your closet, this is the perfect hack. Take a soda can tab and put the hanger through one of the tab holes. Next, take another hanger and put it through the second hole. Now you can hang up more clothes and take up less space doing it.
