Body Image and Eating Disorder Awareness (BIEDA) Week has come and BIEDA is trying to raise awareness. Avalon Hills Foundation formed a study released on Feb. 4, 2015 and here are the results.

  • The amount of first to third grade girls who want to be thinner include 42 percent. 
  • Up to 81 percent of 10 year-olds have a fear of being overweight.
  • Approximately 10 to 15 percent of people with anorexia or bulimia are men. 
  • Only 1 in 10 people with an eating disorder receive treatment. 
  • About 95 percent of eating disorders occur in those between the ages of 12 and 25.
  • As many as 8 percent of Americans have an eating disorder.
