Men’s golf finishes ninth in Arizona

The Iowa State men’s golf team was in Tucson, Arizona, over the weekend for the Arizona Intercollegiate tournament and took home a ninth place finish.

Over the three rounds of play the Cyclones shot a total score of 893, improving their score each round of play starting with a 304, then a 295 and a final round of 294.

The team was lead by junior’s Nick Voke and Ruben Sondjaja, who tied for 19th with a score of 219. Voke shot an even-par 71 for his final round, which included an eagle on the par-4 12th hole and posted a score of 1-over for the final two rounds. Sondjaja shot +2 for his final two rounds after starting out the tournament with a 3-over 75. Denzel Ieremia, a redshirt sophomore, tied for 23rd with a 223 in his first tournament as a Cyclone.

The team will be headed to LaQuinta, California, for the Prestige at PGA West February 15-17 for their next tournament.
