The Cyclone football team enters Jack Trice Stadium on Sept. 15 for their game against Oklahoma.

Good Cop:

Iowa State aims to have a performance against the ninth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, Oklahoma, like it did in 2017 in Norman, where the Cyclones upset the third-ranked Sooners 38-31.

The Cyclones defense held the Sooners defense to just seven points and quarterback Kyle Kempt three for 343 yards and three touchdowns.

Iowa State may need a performance like that from sophomore Quarterback Brock Purdy on Saturday because Oklahoma’s offense has heisman trophy hopeful, quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Hurts has thrown for 2,469 yards this season, completing 73.9 percent of his passes while throwing 21 touchdowns and only three interceptions. Hurts has a QBR (Quarterback Rating) of 94.7 which is second in the country.

Oklahoma is coming off of its worst game off the season, a 48-41 loss to the unranked Kansas State Wildcats.

The Cyclones are coming off its seocnd bye week of the season but in the week prior they lost to the Oklahoma State Cowboys 34-27.

The Sooners come into Saturday’s game as 15 point favorites. I believe the Sooners will win but the Cyclones will keep this close. The Sooners should put the first couple of scores on the board and will take a 10-0 towards the end of the first quarter.

I see Iowa State responding well offensively, scoring two touchdowns but will still be behind at halftime 21-14.

Oklahoma and Iowa State should both score touchdown in the third quarter to bring the score to 28-21

After these two teams score one touchdown, the Sooners will score two field goals to win by 13.

Prediction: Oklahoma 41, Iowa State 28
