Makeup can get pretty pricey, though many students find themselves in Target or Walmart when it comes time to buy makeup. Here are some of the better drugstore makeup items that will fit your budget while also being trendy. If you are looking to splurge, I have also added the more high end, expensive alternative.

  1. Primer: The Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser, $4.89, is a primer you put on before foundation. This will help eliminate the appearance of pores and give you a smoother canvas for your foundation. This product is also easy to apply and adds a satiny finish as a base for your look. (Splurge: The POREfessional Face Primer from Benefit, $31 at Ulta)

  2. Foundation: The Outlast Stay Fabulous by Covergirl, $5.49, is a foundation that is builds easily and applies evenly. It also has an SPF of 20 and is full coverage. (Splurge: The Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation from Make Up For Ever, $43 from Sephora)

  3. Concealer: Instant Age Rewind from Maybelline, $9, is an amazing under-the-eye concealer that will make those bags disappear. The formula is perfect because it’s not too heavy, but still gives good coverage. The applicator is also easy to apply. All you do is twist the bottom and the product comes out of a sponge tip. (Splurge: The Radiant Creamy Concealer from Nars, $29 at Sephora)

  4. Powder: The Stay Matte by Rimmel, $4.97, is a lightweight powder that mattifies your complexion for a great price. It gives you a long-lasting shine control and has natural minerals for all skin types, making it the perfect choice. (Splurge: The Mineralize Skinfinish Natural from Mac, $32 at Nordstrom)

  5. Blush: The NYX Cosmetic Powder blush, $6.99, is a great product that stays on all day. It is heavily pigmented and blends perfectly. This blush also works well as eyeshadow and contouring to really get your use out of it. (Splurge: The Amazonian Blush from Tarte, $28 at Ulta)

  6. Eyeliner:  The Almay Amazing Lasting 16 Hour eyeliner, $6.89, is a good choice if you are looking for a longer lasting liner. It helps that it’s water resistant and smudge proof to ensure it stays in place. (Splurge: The 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil from Urban Decay, $20 at Ulta)

  7. Mascara: The Voluminous mascara from L’oreal, $5.89, will help thicken your lashes for a dramatic look. Different mascaras work for different people, but this does a really good job of suiting and volumizing everyone’s lashes to last a full day of classes. (Splurge: The Roller Lash Mascara from Benefit, $12 at Ulta)
