Cyclones finish day one of Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational

ISU wrestling finished day one of the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational No. 17 in the team rankings out of 40 total teams. 

One Cyclone advanced into day two of the invitational undefeated. Five more Cyclones remain in the consolation bracket.

The No. 5 seed at 133-pounds, Iowa State’s Earl Hall, will compete in the semifinals Saturday against No. 1 seed Cody Brewer from Oklahoma.

Lelund Weatherspoon, the No. 3 seed at 174-pounds, lost in the quarterfinals to No. 6 Bryce Hammond. Weatherspoon will continue to compete in the consolation bracket Saturday. 

Gabe Moreno at 149-pounds and Tanner Weatherman at 165-pounds both lost in the round of 16. Both are still alive in the consolation bracket and will continue to compete Saturday.

Dante Rodriguez at 141-pounds lost in the round of 32, but he’s still in the consolation bracket.

Dane Pestano was pinned in the first round but bounced back strong and remained in the consolation bracket. 

Kyle Larson, Logan Breitenbach and Joe Scanlan are all out of the tournament. Duke Egli at 197-pounds didn’t wrestle.
