Cyclones have good showing at Harold Nichols Cyclone Open

ISU wrestling had a good showing at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open on Sunday at Hilton Coliseum.

The event lasted all day, starting at 9 a.m. and finishing at 5 p.m. Each wrestler got a number of duals in on the day.

Four Cyclones made it to the finals of their respective weight classes. Earl Hall at 133-pounds and Lelund Weatherspoon at 174-pounds each won while 165-pound Tanner Weatherman and heavyweight Quean Smith both lost in the championship round.

Hall won his championship match, 4-3, in his closest dual of the day, and Lelund Weatherspoon won his match 3-2.

Kyle Larson at 125-pounds, Dante Rodriguez at 141-pounds, Ronaldo Rodriguez-Spencer at 157-pounds and Dane Pestano at 184-pounds all finished third for the Cyclones. The other 141-pound wrestler for the Cyclones, John Meeks, finished fifth.

The Cyclones return to action in two weeks to take on in-state rival Iowa at Hilton Coliseum.
