The ISU swimming and diving team met with the Nebraska Cornhuskers for the first official meet of the season Friday night.

The Cyclones took first in the 200-medley relay, gaining 11 points and taking the lead, but it didn’t last long as Nebraska took first in the next three events.

The Cyclones trailed the Huskers 76-55 going into the first diving competition.

Nebraska secured the first two spots after 1-meter diving, but ISU’s Julie Dickinson and Elyse Brouillette took third and fourth place, respectively.

Iowa State was trailing, but it didn’t stop placing high as Marissa Engel took first place in the 200-meter backstroke. Kasey Roberts also took first place in the 200 breaststroke, boosting Iowa State’s score.

Nebraska took home the first three spots in 3-meter diving as Dickinson took fourth.

The final score of the meet was 187-113 in favor of the Cornhuskers.

The Cyclones meet back at home at 6 p.m. Oct. 30 against Omaha.
