The stages of online shopping and some of the best online shopping websites

Katie Wallner

Online shopping is a college girls’ best friend. With the convenience of online shopping it makes spending a lot of money that much easier, especially with the rise of many popular shopping websites.

Your color and size are usually in stock and there is no need to get up from your comfy bed and put on presentable clothes. No need to walk endlessly up and down aisles to find what you are looking for; all you have to do is search what you are looking for and you will pinpoint exactly what you want. Not only are you able to look for the cheapest price and the exact style you are looking for, but you have the option to look at that same product in more than one store at the same time.

However I have noticed that when I buy things online it happens to be sometimes bittersweet. The process of online shopping can bring you a lot of different emotions:

Stage 1: “Im going to go online shopping” – This is the very beginning of your “once of many online shopping stages,” which I am sure that you have experienced. In this stage you may just have been browsing an online shopping website and you see a piece of clothing that catches your eye. Perhaps you see the perfect necklace that you have been looking all over for at the mall but you weren’t able to find until you stumbled across it online.

Stage 2: “Ill put my favorites in my cart and eliminate them later” – One find leads to another. Before you know it you decide that you’ll just put all your favorites in the cart, and you will eliminate them once you check out.

Stage 3: The elimination – This is where your mood goes from a straight 10 to about a 6 once you look at the total. You’re forced to take some of your favorites out of the shopping cart.

Stage 4: The purchase – This is the stage where you are excited and also crying at the fact that you realize you going to be purchasing this stuff with your own money and you realize that you are a broke college student.

Stage 5: The arrival – For the last week you have been tracking the delivery status. Everyday you check to see if your package has came yet. Finally once you receive a notification that your package has arrived you don’t waste a second; you immediately drop everything you are doing to go get your package. Once the box is in your hands you start peeling off the plastic tape because you are so excited you can’t even wait until you get in your apartment.

Stage 6: The return – The stage where you have ordered your shoes one size too big and you have to return them and purchase the same shoe in one size smaller. This is where you begin the cycle again; you happen to find more things to add in your cart and eventually eliminate before you make your final check out.

Here are some of my personal favorite online shopping websites:

  • 10 Dollar MallEverything on this website is $10 or less. They have everything from men;s and women’s clothes to accessories to shoes. The best part is the clothes are trendy and you won’t feel bad purchasing a lot of the clothes because you won’t be burning a hole in your wallet.
  • Urban OriginalThis websites only sells women’s clothing and is a good website that always has great deals. This is a good website to get shoes or dresses for a special occasion.
  • Sammy Dress: This website has cheap clothing for men or women. It is the prefect online shopping website for college students because the prices are cheap and they ship for free, usually in 24 hours.
  • Go JaneThis website has cheap accessories for women such as belts, sunglasses, and jewelry.
  • Wanelo: Lastly this is my favorite online shopping website to browse because they have a live feed of some of the trendiest stuff for this season.
