The ISU football team is bringing on former Washington State head coach Paul Wulff to the coaching staff, the team announced Thursday.

He will be a volunteer assistant, unpaid, according to a Tweet from the football team.

Wulff was most recently the offensive coordinator for South Florida in 2014. He worked with the San Francisco 49ers from 2012-2013 as an offensive assistant.

Wulff became head coach of Washington State in 2008, amassing a 9-40 record in his four seasons. He also served as head coach for Eastern Washington for eight seasons, finishing 53-40.

Former quarterback coach Todd Sturdy is now in charge of the ISU offense after Iowa State parted ways with former offensive coordinator Mark Mangino.

Sturdy worked with Wulff in Wulff’s final season with Eastern Washington in 2007. Sturdy jumped on the Wulff’s Washington State staff as the offensive coordinator from 2008-2011 before Iowa State hired Sturdy as the wide receivers coach.
