How to keep your street front safe in Campustown

Shannon Mccarty

Thursday night Ames Police and volunteers from all over the Ames Community conducted a Campustown safety walk. The walk showed some common safety hazards in the area can be easily maintained by residents. Here’s a few step to take to keep your street front safe.

  • Maintain any shrubbery or trees that overhang sidewalks, or obstruct near light poles or electrical lines.
  • Call the Ames City Police if the sidewalk in front of your residency contains any large cracks or trip hazards.
  • Be sure the sidewalk in front of your residency is well lit for pedestrians.
  • Call the Ames Police if any light posts near your residency are burnt out. Each light post has a serial number on it you can use to identify to the police.
  • If you see any area that appears to be unsafe call the Ames City Police at 515-239-5133.
