The Student Government Senate will appoint three new senators, as well as discuss funding for two organizations on campus.

The meeting will take place 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Campanile Room of the Memorial Union. The meeting is open to the public.

Three senators — two who represent the Inter-Residence Hall Association and one who represents United Residents of Off-Campus — are set to be appointed to seats in the Senate. IHRA executive members have nominated Brandon Baumhover, sophomore in animal science, and Garett Onstot, freshmen in animal science. Cameron Thomson, junior in environmental science, was nominated by UROC.

Senators will also discuss funding student organizations on campus, including the Puerto Rican Student Association and ISU Bowling.

The Puerto Rican Student Association is asking Student Government for $1,700 to host a Puerto Rican cultural night. Senators will also discuss allocating $3,081.55 to ISU Bowling due to an increased student interest in the club. The Senate will not vote on either of these bill at Wednesday’s meeting.

The Senate will have a first read of a bill that would encourage collaboration among college councils.

The bill states that Student Government wishes to allow students to seek funding from multiple sources outside of their own organization. If enacted, the bylaw, which currently states, “The organization shall not receive funding or be sponsored by one or more academic department(s) or college council(s),” will be amended to “The organization shall not receive funding or be sponsored by one or more academic department(s).”
