Campustown Action Association will host a free outdoor movie night Friday.

“How to Train Your Dragon 2” will be screened on the upper deck of the St. Thomas Aquinas Church parking ramp, located between Ash Avenue and Lynn Avenue in Campustown. The event will feature live music and free activities sponsored by Healthiest Ames, which will begin at 7 p.m. The movie will begin at approximately 8:30 p.m.

A few blankets will be available, but viewers are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. Viewers are also encouraged to order take-out food from businesses in Campustown or have a picnic before arriving or during the movie. Participating businesses include Pizza Pit, Fighting Burrito, Battlecry Southern Select Smokehouse, Indian Delights Express, Arcadia Cafe, Jeff’s Pizza Shop, Insomnia Cookies and Stomping Grounds.

Popcorn will be provided by St. Thomas Aquinas, and candy will be available from First National Bank.

The event is supported through the Ames Community Grant and is in partnership with Cyclone Cinema, St. Thomas Aquinas Church and Catholic Student Center. Cyclone Cinema screens movies weekly in Carver Hall during the fall and spring semesters.

In case of poor weather conditions, the movie will be held in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union.
