12 things to know for the Big 12 Outdoor Championship

1. Freshman Abby Caldwell and junior Colleen Riley battle for the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. 

2. Katy Moen attempts to defend her 2014 Big 12 title in the 10,000-meter run.

3. Moen is the only ISU athlete to rank in the top-30 in the nation in two different events.

4. Defending NCAA outdoor champion in the shot put, Christina Hillman, competes for the Big 12 title against three top-25 athletes in the event.

5. Junior Alyssa Gonzalez will try to get her fifth personal record this season in the 400-meter hurdles. 

6. Senior Kendra White will try to extend her streak of first place individual finishes in the 400-meter run.

7. ISU athletes enter with a combined seven Big 12 Conference titles.

8. ISU athletes enter with a combined five top-30 performances in the nation. 

9. This is the first year Iowa State will host the Big 12 Outdoor Championship since 1995, when it was known the Big Eight Outdoor Championship.

10. The 2015 Big 12 Outdoor Championship is the first official collegiate outdoor track meet to be hosted at the Cyclone Sports Complex, which opened in 2012. 

11. Iowa State enters the conference championship meet after setting 10 personal records in its most recent meets, the Musco Twilight and Payton Jordan Invitational. 

12. The Big 12 Outdoor Championship is only the second meet of the season the team hasn’t split up to compete in different events. The first was the Drake Relays.
