According to IRI, a Chicago-based market research firm, here are the 15 most popular liquor brands in the United States by 2014 retail-store sales, not counting liquor sold in bars:

1. Smirnoff (vodka)

2. Captain Morgan (rum)

U.S. retail sales in 2014: $224 million

3. Jack Daniels (whiskey)

U.S. retail sales in 2014: $219 million

4. Bacardi (rum)

U.S. retail sales in 2014: $204 million

5. Crown Royal (whiskey)

U.S. retail sales in 2014: $187 million

6. Absolut (vodka)

U.S. retail sales in 2014: $130.7 million

7. Fireball Cinnamon Whiskey

U.S. retail sales in 2014: $130.6 million

8. Jim Beam (bourbon)
