Salt Lake City native Julian Moon was recently named one of Yahoo Music’s “25 Singer-Songwriters Under 25 to Watch” and is currently touring around the Los Angeles area.

The Los Angeles based singer-songwriter released her debut album, “Good Girl,” on March 23.

This 10-track album is full of light acoustic pop. Moon continues the record’s upbeat energy even for the unhappy topics. “Rebound” and “Just Go With It” are inspired from life’s frustrations and disappointments, yet Moon maintains a positive vibe in her music with lyrics like, “When it all falls apart better put it in God’s hands.”

In her song, “One Penny,” and its lyrics, “Can’t believe I work this hard to be this poor,” Moon also makes herself relevant to young adults in a sarcastic and humorous way.

“One Penny” exposes parts of Moon’s witty personality and is the highlight of the album with catchy lyrics and snapping beats.

Throughout the album, Julian Moon’s vocals are bright and smooth. While she doesn’t express much raw emotion throughout the album, the single, “How To Break A Heart,” singularly showcases Moon’s ability to convey passion in her voice.

The instrumentals in “How To Break A Heart” are well balanced with Moon’s voice. The piano arpeggios and simple background beats make the song a smooth and peaceful transition within the album.

Moon’s final song, “Loser,” is a feel-good love song for any “two weirdos that feel love.” Simple guitar and percussion keep Moon’s clear voice the focus of the song, making “Loser” a memorable and contented ending to the album.

Overall, “Good Girl” is fun, bright and a perfect addition to a summer playlist. Julian Moon is an artist to look out for in the future.
