The last day of the Drake Relays was rainy and cold but that didn’t stop the ISU men’s track and field team from competing.

The Cyclones’ distance medley team consisting of Edward Kemboi, Brandon Barnes, Patrick Peterson and Brian Biekert had a strong start but was hampered by a collision that happened on the handoff between the second and third leg.

The team ended in sixth place with after a quick turnaround by Peterson and finished with a time of 9:47.84.

Iowa State’s sprint medley didn’t have as much luck, and finished 15th out of 19 teams that competed. It set a time of 3:30.17 in its first competition this season.

It seemed like the cold and rainy day affected Cameron Ostrowski’s day after he failed to clear 6 feet, 9 3/4 inches, which is more than an inch shorter than his season’s best performance at the Tiger Track Classic.

Multiple jumpers slipped on the less-than-ideal conditions of the running platform.

Iowa State will be back in action on May 1 and 2 at either Palo Alto, Calif. or Iowa City, Iowa.
