The ISU gymnasts held the NCAA Gymnastics Regional here in Ames on April 4. The Cyclones went up against five other teams, four of which were ranked. Those teams included Louisiana State University (No. 4), Michigan State University, University of Denver (No. 16), University of Nebraska (No. 9), and University of Washington (No. 23).

The Cyclones started out strong on the floor, earning a team score of 49.150, tying their season high. Not one gymnast scored below a 9.775. Hilary Green and Haylee Young led the team in scoring, both earning a 9.850 for their routines.

Iowa State then carried their momentum to the vault, where they would score a 49.025. Here Young would lead the team again in scoring with a 9.850, along with Caitlin Brown. Their score was closely followed by Courtney Middlekoop with, who earned a 9.825.

After the vault, Iowa State took a bye. Coming back from their bye, the Cyclones seemingly struggled to carry on their momentum on the bars and beam. These two events posed a struggle for Iowa State, who had been hanging in the top half of team scoring until this point. The ISU gymnasts earned a team score of 48.825 on the bars and 48.350 on the beam.

Young and Brown maintained high scores in each of their routines, looking to qualify for Nationals in the All-Around, but only Brown would continue her post season with a overall score of 39.350.

Iowa State rounded out fifth with a score of 195.350. LSU and Nebraska finished in first and second, both scoring 197.175 and 196.950 respectively, landing them a spot in the NCAA National Championships. Following LSU and Nebraska was Denver (195.950), Michigan State (195.375), and Washington coming up sixth with 193.675.

Brown will be representing ISU gymnastics in Fort Worth, Texas in the NCAA Gymnastics National Championships between April 17-19.
