Just as their rankings are nearly identical, so were the scores of Iowa and Iowa State as they battle for in-state bragging rights at the Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Invitational.

After two rounds at Finkbine Golf Course, No. 42 Iowa State owns a one-shot lead over No. 46 Iowa with one round to play on April 19. With a 13-under-par total of 563 (284+279), the Cyclones also lead No. 77 Idaho by three shots in what will likely be a three-team race for the team title.

Individually, Iowa State was led by Scott Fernandez. The senior posted rounds of 70 and 68, good for a tie for 2nd place at six-under-par. Fernandez trails Louis Cohen Boyer of Wichita State by seven shots, who had the low score in both rounds with scores of 65 and 66.

Joining Fernandez in the top 10 are sophomore Ruben Sondjaja (69+70, tied for fourth) and senior Sam Daley (73+68, tied for eighth). Sophomore Nick Voke is tied for 24th place out of 66 golfers after rounds of 72 and 73.

Rounding out the lineup was redshirt junior Collin Foster, who recorded rounds of 77 and 75 and is tied for 48th place.

In the final round, No. 42 Iowa State (-13) will be grouped with No. 46 Iowa (-12) and No. 77 Idaho (-10) beginning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
