After 15 years without an album, Violent Femmes has released a new single, “Love Love Love Love Love.”

This single is off of Violent Femmes’ upcoming EP album, “Happy New Year,” which was recorded on New Year’s Eve in Hobart, Tasmania. The band is set to release the EP album April 18.

The track begins with Gordon Gano’s voice and a simple guitar. The song builds by adding more guitar and drums, shifting into their signature Brazilian bossa nova rock style.

Violent Femmes has been in the music industry ever since their discovery in Milwaukee in 1981. However, their 30 years of experience does not make them irrelevant to the younger crowd. Lead singer, Gordon Gano, sings about the hardships that come with love with lyrics like, “Some people know when to settle down. I can’t help but wonder what’s on the other side.”

The last 30 seconds of the single are livened up with a smooth saxophone solo to bring the song to a close.

While this track is an enjoyable tune, there isn’t anything about it that really stands out to the listener. The lyrics and music easily blend into the vast array of today’s music.

Overall, “Love Love Love Love Love” is a catchy tune that will appeal to a variety of audiences. With the flare of the saxophone and upbeat drums, this single is a great addition to a summer playlist. Young adults who are fans of the bands, Weezer or Cake, will enjoy their alternative rock sound.
