ISU men’s track and field heads to NCAAs

The distance squads have led the ISU men’s track and field team throughout the indoor season. Now, heading into the NCAA Championships, senior Edward Kemboi and the distance medley will represent the Cyclones in Fayetteville, Ark.

After becoming the first athlete in ISU track and field history to be crowned both the 1000-meter and 800-meter champion in back-to-back seasons at the Big 12 Championships, as well as being named Big 12s MVP and Men’s Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Outstanding Performer of the Year, Kemboi notched a spot at the NCAA Championships.

Kemboi will compete individually in the second heat of the 800-meter run. He will be racing against runners from Georgetown, Alabama, Illinois, Northeastern and Monmouth. Kemboi’s seed time is 1:46.09.

The distance medley team will also be representing Iowa State at nationals. It will be in a field of 12 teams with a seed time of 9:31.85.

The Cyclones will head to Fayetteville, Ark. for the NCAA Championships on March 13-14.
