Cyclone Hockey Jason Fairman answers questions about upcoming series

Cyclone Hockey will take on tier-III junior hockey team, the Illiana Blackbirds, this weekend in an exhibition matchup.

Here are some things that Cyclone Hockey head coach Jason Fairman touched on about the series.

Lineup: “We got some guys banged up. We are going to get some guys some rest. We might try some different guys and different guys at different positions. Just getting ready [for next weekend].”

How the players are feeling: “I just talked to another coach and he was saying that he is going through what a lot of coaches call the ‘dog days’ of hockey. A lot of coaches are going through it. We ran into that a little bit last year. We took on Central Oklahoma at home, and we had the worst loss during my time as coach. Part of the reason I scheduled this is because I wanted an easier team.”

Last weekend’s split: “I’m trying not to get too worked up about last weekend, but [the team] knows I’m not happy.”

Cyclone Hockey will start its exhibition series against the Illiana Blackbirds at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena.
