Three stars on Cyclone Hockey’s weekend

Cyclone Hockey took both games of an exhibition series against the Illiana Blackbirds on Feb. 13 and 14 at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena.

Here are the three stars of the weekend.

1. Chase Rey, Cyclone forward: Rey has been on fire since returning from injury at the beginning of the new year. He has 10 points in his last 12 games after putting up a goal and an assist on the weekend.

2. Trevor Lloyd, Cyclone forward: Lloyd didn’t have any points in the first game but had two in the final game. He assisted on Alex Grupe’s goal in the second period and grabbed one of his own in the third period on the power play.

3. Larry Pezzuto, Blackbird goaltender: Pezzuto had a career night in the first game of the series. After the night was done, the Cyclones had put a barrage on net with 55 shots — Pezzuto stopped 53 of them. He was on his game and was part of the reason why the Cyclones only could put two goals on the board.
