By the numbers: Cyclone Hockey downed by Ohio

Cyclone Hockey was downed by the Ohio Bobcats over the weekend with a 3-1 and a 4-1 loss at the Bird Arena in Athens, Ohio.

Here are some numbers to take away from the series.

1-7-3: The Cyclones record on the road. Take that against their 7-4-2 record at home and it doesn’t look pretty. The Cyclones only have one remaining series away from home at Robert Morris on Feb. 6.

2: The number of goals the Cyclones score in the series. They scored one goal in each game while being outscored 7-1. The team has had its share of scoring troubles that looked to be in the past after beating Illinois with ten goals in two games, but it came back to haunt them.

31: The amount of shots the Cyclones put on net in the series. A dismal number, although many of the players and coaches from the Cyclones complained that the Ohio stat takers missed a lot of shots. Whatever the case, the team struggled to test the Bobcat goaltender and paid the price with two losses.

Cyclone Hockey will be back in the rink against Iowa at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena.
