In a back and forth affair, Iowa State fell to Oklahoma State 20-15.

After leading in the first two periods, Kyle Larson fell short of an upset against No. 10 Eddie Klimara. Earl Hall made up for the previous loss, scoring a 9-5 decision at 133 pounds.

It was Dante Rodriguez who got the nod over John Meeks, who started against Virginia Tech, at 141 pounds. Rodriguez struggled against Dean Heil, who won by major decision. Gabe Moreno brought the score within one after a decision victory against Davey Dolan, inlcuding more than three minutes of riding time.

The matchup of the day came at 165 pounds, as No. 4 Michael Moreno squared off against No. 1 Alex Dieringer. Dieringer showed why he’s considered to be the No. 2 pound-for-pound wrestler in the NCAA, as he scored a 13-3 major decision against Moreno.

Tanner Weatherman lost a close decision at 174 pounds, followed by a decision victory from Lelund Weatherspoon, putting the score at 17-9 before No. 3 Kyven Gadson took the mat at 197 pounds.

Gadson did not disappoint the Hilton crowd, scoring a pin in the second period and bringing the dual within two points.

It was up to Quean Smith at heavyweight to finish off the dual. Smith narrowly lost to No. 5 Austin Marsden, who sealed Oklahoma State’s victory with a 4-3 decision.
