Nader makes impact in Cy-Hawk Series

Redshirt junior Abdel Nader made his presence felt for the first time in an ISU uniform Dec. 12 against Iowa.

Nader came into the Cy-Hawk Series averaging 12.6 minutes per game and shooting 0-for-9 from deep.

That all changed on Friday night as the redshirt junior transfer torched the Iowa Hawkeyes to the tune of 19 points.

ISU men’s basketball coach Fred Hoiberg said he had been waiting for that breakout game from Nader all season long.

Nader hovered on the outskirts of the controversy that swarmed around senior Bryce Dejean-Jones, who received a one-game suspension from Hoiberg for his conduct on Dec. 11.

Nader was not charged or suspended despite being Dejean-Jones’ roommate.
