The Lowdown

In one of the most exciting games of ISU’s disappointing football season, the Cyclones fell to the Texas Tech Red Raiders 34-31 at Jack Trice Stadium.

Iowa State (2-8, 0-7 Big 12) had their best offensive game of the season with 569 yards of offense and shattered their season high rushing total with 265 yards on the ground.

Turning Point

With 5:40 remaining and a 31-27 lead, kicker Cole Netten came on to attempt a 42-yard field goal. With a mist heading in to Jack Trice and a missed field goal already on his mind, Netten pulled it just wide left. Texas Tech would go on to score on a 44-yard run that would end up winning the game.

X-Factor

Aaron Wimberly — Despite the loss, Wimberly ran with determination, finishing with 102 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. He led a group of rushers that piled up 265 yards on the ground, breaking their previous high of 179 against Texas earlier this season.
