Taylor Swift’s new album “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology” was released April 19 at 2 a.m. Swift’s new album has been anticipated since its announcement at the Grammys on Feb. 4 after Swift received her 13th Grammy.

The album was slowly introduced when Swift released the first single of the album, “Fortnight [feat. Post Malone]” April 18 at midnight.

Swift later announced that the album would become “The Anthology” since she had surprise-released 15 extra songs that she had written for the album. Currently, “The Tortured Poets Department” consists of 31 songs and is her longest album to date, given the addition of “The Anthology.”

This album is an ode to the acoustic side of Swift’s songwriting and musicality. Some of the songs have an acoustic sound to them, but others have more of a “Midnights” feel while listening. With an enchanting pop sound behind them, they are reminiscent of Swift’s song “Bejeweled.”

Swift also included a number of feature artists on her tracklist. Post Malone is featured on her first single of the album, “Fortnight,” and Florence & The Machine is featured on her song “Florida!!!”

This album is one of her best yet. Each song takes you through something different: a new memory, a new emotion, a new remembrance. ‘The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology” feels like a mix of all of Swift’s different albums and eras, making it the perfect addition to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour sensation that hit the ground running just a year ago.

Each of the 31 songs tells a different story. The songs themselves and the album are a rollercoaster that is full of joy, grief, excitement, anger and regret. Almost everyone will be able to find an experience in their life that will be touched by this album.

In my opinion, “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” and “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys” are my favorite songs on the album by far. I have had “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” on repeat since the album was released. It has the break-up heartbreak feel to it, but it also is a song you can dance around your room to. “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys” is such a compelling song and has such a catchy sound to it.
