Royals, Orioles kick off the MLB postseason in dramatic fashion

Two teams who have seen relatively little success in the American League in recent history make big splash as October baseball kicks off. Let us take a quick look at last night’s events and what is to come.

With, count it, zero playoff appearances over the last 29 years the Royals find themselves in the midst of a five game series with the very talented Los Angeles Angels. With Albert Pujols, Mike Trout, and Josh Hamilton the Angels are definitely not facing a shortage of star-power. Even with that said, and taking into consideration the wildly competitive American League, I would be surprised if the Royals did not hop on this chance and end this series before it gets to game five.

With three CyYoung winning pitchers in David Price, Justin Verlander, and Max Scherzer and arguably the greatest sluggers in recent memory in Miguel Cabrera it would be absurd to bet against the Tigers, right? Coming into the series two things were known, the Orioles have a great bullpen, and the Tigers, well, not so much. This was proven in game one by the Tiger’s bullpen giving up eight runs in the eighth inning in a 12-3 loss. With an outstanding manager in Buck Showalter and a young, exciting core, the Orioles will not fail to seize this opportunity.

Thursday night was as exciting as we hoped, stay tuned for coverage of the National League side, whose games kick off Friday Night.
