By the Numbers: ISU men’s golf ties for eigth place in Louisiana

The ISU men’s golf team capped off the fall portion of its season at the David Toms Intercollegiate Oct. 5 and tied for eighth place out of 12 teams. The Cyclones recorded their lowest finish of the season and will have nearly four months off before returning to action Jan. 26 at the Arizona Intercollegiate. Here are some facts and figures from their final event in Baton Rouge, La.:

55: As a team, Iowa State finished with a 55-over-par total. The total is the team’s highest over-par finish in a 54-hole tournament since the 2012 Northern Illinois Intercollegiate (79-over-par).

919: Iowa State recorded a 54-hole team total of 919, which was also its highest total since posting a 931 at the 2012 Northern Illinois Intercollegiate.

7: Iowa State had gone seven regular season tournaments since finishing in eighth place or worse.

77.59: The average 18-hole score for the field at the David Toms Intercollegiate, the highest field average at Iowa State’s three tournaments thus far. Iowa State recorded 9-of-15 rounds at or below the field average.

8: Only eight of 207 individual rounds for the field were at par or better. Iowa State accounted for one, a one-under-par 71 by Nick Voke in the third round.
