The ISU volleyball team, which is 3-2 overall and 0-0 in the Big 12, won three consecutive matches during the Iowa State Challenge on Sept. 4 to 6 at Hilton Coliseum.

Iowa State did not drop a set in the course of the weekend, a polar opposite result from its first two matches of the season in which the Cyclones failed to capture a set.

Freshman Alexis Conaway and sophomore Ciara Capezio were the standouts of the tournament, solidifying the role that young talent will play in ISU volleyball’s success in 2014.

Conaway slated a total of 12 block assists and two solo blocks along with 18 kills in the three matches against Omaha, Tennessee and Northern Illinois.

Capezio tallied 38 kills in the three contests, leading the ISU attack.
