The ISU track and field program will host both the indoor and outdoor Big 12 Championships this year.

This will be the third straight year that the Cyclones host the indoor event on the Harry Hoak Track at the Lied Recreation Athletic Center. It will be the first year that the Bill and Karen Bergen Track hosts the outdoor championships since its completion in 2012.

“I think it sends a message about how great our track is including our outdoor track, and how much support we have from Iowa State University and from the athletic department here to continue to host these big events,” said ISU assistant track and field coach Andrea Grove-McDonough.

Grove-McDonough said it’s a huge advantage for the athletes to compete in front of their home crowd and gives the team an edge in any championship that they host.

The Big 12 Indoor Championships will take place Feb. 27 and 28. The outdoor championships are scheduled for May 15 to 17.
